The fireplace surround is done and I love it!
The mantle when the handyman finished was not so great. It was a classic case of miscommunication. I didn’t draw nearly as detailed picture of what I had in mind as I had for the tile and what he was thinking and what I was thinking were too very different things. So when I tried to apply what he was telling me to my vision, it just didn’t make sense. And I’m sure the same was true for him. So last night I emailed him some pictures I found that were similar to what I had wanted. Unfortunately, it will be next month before he’ll get a chance to get back and fix it.
In the meantime, I’ve arranged for the cork flooring to go back around the new hearth and I’ll need to pick out a new color for my living room. I also need to find the best way to clean that soot off the back of the fireplace. Any suggestions will be welcomed.
