My downstairs neighbor is a big complainer. In fact, she’ll complain about things she makes up. For instance, she was complaining to the guy who did my fireplace tile about the early morning noise that started at 8am. Well, he didn’t arrive any day before 8:30 and I made him wait until 9am to start any work that might cause noise. I had already apologized to her previously about disturbing her so when she stopped me in the garage the other day to complain some more I just tried to smile and be polite. I pointed out to her that she was gone the truly noisy day when he was using a jack hammer to remove the brick. That took about a three minute argument before she finally conceded that yes, she was out of town that Monday. She must have made the point that the work was loud at least five times. I was proud to come away without having said I was sorry even once. I’m only going to apologize so many times, if you don’t believe me after that, repeating yourself doesn’t make me any more sorry.
